Our Source trade show opens its doors on Wednesday! Build up is well underway, with our many exhibitors busy setting up their stands and getting ready to see you. With over 220 exhibitors, 22 Newcomers, 68 first time exhibitors, 80 Taste of the West members, and exclusive show offers, there’s going to be a lot for you to see, taste, and test!
As if that wasn’t enough reason for you to visit, many of our exhibitors have won awards this year, and many are also launching new products. Award winners of the future maybe? Here’s a taste of what’s in store for you, or to put it another way, here’s what could be in your store or on your menu!
Taste of the West Ltd is launching their new service at the show – Taste of the West Insurance Services. They have partnered with WPS Insurance Brokers, a specialist company that understands the specific insurance requirements of food and drink businesses. With over 25 years of experience providing general insurance services for businesses and individuals WPS, partnered with Taste of the West, will offer comprehensive policies that are appropriate to the specific needs of the food and drink community while still offering value for money. (Stand H23).
Bell and Loxton have had another great year, winning many awards for their delicious cold pressed rapeseed oils. Gold with Taste of the West for their Garlic flavoured rapeseed oil, 1 star with Great Taste Awards for their Indian Spice Blend, and Silver with Food and Drink Devon for their Indian Spice Blend and Garlic flavoured rapeseed oil. (Stand G27)
Anglo Indian Chef have increased their range from 13 products to 19. They are the only company offering a single serving packet, which they have just introduced. It would work well as a POS item or to test the range in retail outlets. They have also recently started doing catering packs. (Stand C42).
Koppert Cress were also awarded with the Koning Willem I Plaque for Sustainable Entrepreneurship in 2016, received from the hands of Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands at the official ceremony in May. In October they were presented with the Hillenraad Theme Prize for Sustainability. As if this wasn’t enough, they are now releasing their first ever fresh superfood! (Stand D24/E23).
Rawlings are bringing to market a new brand new 1.5oz (43ml) Mini Jar. These jars will provide a bite sized pack for your product and are ideal for the hospitality and travel industry. They are crystal clear in appearance, and packaged to pharmaceutical standards in packs of 252 and pallets of 12,636. They are also well suited for product samples for promotional activity.
Dartmoor Brewery is the first Devon brewer to become a corporate member of Cask Marque, the prestigious national award scheme promoting top-quality beer. They are also aiming to be one of a growing number of brewers achieving the industry-recognised “SALSA” accreditation for the brewery, and the Distributor Charter for their supply-chain management. (Stand A4).
POW Energy Water have now launched in Boots nationwide in 250 of the largest stores. They have also launched into Albeit Hein across Holland & Belgium in 500 stores with their new 250ml Bottles in 3 flavours. From January this year they have increased their distribution with Sainsbury’s to 250 stores. (Stand F54).
Ministry of Cake are the UK’s largest foodservice dessert manufacturer, and they have a new range of traybakes. Welcome to the Department of Traybake! (Stand C27).
Westaways Sausages were judged to be the best UK brand for Traditional Pork Sausages at the 2016 British Sausage Week awards. They’re also launching a new product – frozen sausages that look and taste just like fresh chilled sausages. The combination of using the freshest pork and their unique freezing process means that their Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) sausages have an authentic texture and taste, just like a fresh butcher’s sausage. Bini Fine Foods has achieved 5 Great Taste Awards with her range of homemade frozen ready meals, including the Potato & Coconut Curry and Moghul Chicken Curry. Bini is also going to appear alongside Michele Roux Jr on C4 in the coming year! (Stand F44).
Sheppy’s Cider launched Old Corky in 2016. This hand-crafted, medium-sweet Somerset cider is made from Sheppy’s finest bitter sweet apple varieties and celebrates 200 years of Sheppy’s cider making tradition. Created to celebrate Sheppy’s bicentenary in 2016, it is already an award winner with One Star at Great Taste 2016; a Silver for packaging and design, and a Bronze for taste, at the International Cider Challenge 2016 – and it was a Gold Medal winner at The Royal Bath and West Show’s British Cider Championships 2016. (Stand E15).
H S French Flint specialise in supplying containers in both glass and plastic, along with all the associated caps, corks, stoppers and closures.are launching their Traditional American Styled Range of Mason Jars and Ketchup Bottles. (Stand G43).
Lyme Bay Winery have a new product for you. Yore is a lightly carbonated, refreshing (4% ABV), moreish drink that provides a genuine, and gluten free, alternative to beer and cider. This is Mead, but not Mead as you know it! Honey, water, ancient beginnings and a fresh new look. No grapes, no apples; just honey. (Stand E30).
Crafti’s are excited to announce the launch of their new range of off-the-shelf brown kraft meal bags in Spring 2017. Speak to the team at the show about these, bespoke designs, or bespoke branded options. (Stand G26).

International Decorative Surfaces have rolled out a major new relaunch of their Tuscan wood flooring collection. With 15 new designs added, the 37-strong collection features their most popular sellers with the added injection of fashionable greys, smoked woods and herringbones that keep it on point for the latest trends, enhancing any new build or renovation project. (Stand D41).
Skinner’s Brewery gleaned a glorious Gold in the Best Bitters category at the Falmouth Beer Festival for Cornish Knocker. They also received Bronze in the Cornish Champions category for their golden honeyed ale, Hops ‘n’ Honey. Their Hops ‘n’ Honey also picked up Gold in the Speciality Category. (Stand G44).
Powderkeg Brewery has gone straight to the top with its first award, having won Best Lager at The IWSC Beer Awards for its pilsner ‘Cut Loose’. ‘Speak Easy’, their Transatlantic Pale Ale, was also recognised with an award at the competition. Winning ‘Best in Show’ in its category, Cut Loose was described as ‘one of the 16 best beers in the world’. Needless to say, it’s a big award for a microbrewery tucked away in a corner of the Devon countryside, especially since they only opened for business in 2015! (Stand NC10).
Boddingtons Berries received a Made in Cornwall award for “Taking Cornwall places”. The awards were judged by looking for companies which traded successfully out of county, and promoted the local area. Their inspirational preserves now also have new packaging options and redesigned labels. (Stand A1).
Ebb Tides is showcasing a tasty, healthy and versatile new product at the show. Part of a range of sustainably harvested edible seaweeds, their innovative new seaweed-spice blend ‘Ocean Spice’ is a Moroccan-style spice blend mixed with dulse seaweed. Its versatility means that it makes a delicious dry marinade for meats, poultry, fish and vegetables and can also be added to curries and soups for extra zing and flavour. (Stand NC1).
Foxcombe Bakehouse will be showcasing their new delicious and very reasonably priced “Gluten Free” range along with their standard everyday range of award winning cakes, biscuits and sweet snacks. Foxcombe Bakehouse offer great margins, free weekly delivery, friendly service and products which are both handmade and quite simply delicious. (Stand F40).
Projuice have 6 new products – 3 new Breakfast Smoothies made with Oats and Honey and 3 new Cake Shakes based on classic cakes. All three of the smoothies come prepacked in 150g sachets with oats & honey to kick start your day the right way. Projuice will also be revealing a mystery new ice cream flavour at the show! (Stand E44).
Ashridge Cider now make a delicious still Cox & Bramley apple juice in a big bottle – keep it in the fridge for breakfast, or a thirsty family. They’ve added an elderflower artisan cider to their range too. They also won Golds and Silvers at Taste of the West in 2016 right across their range of soft drinks and ciders. (Stand F37).
Barton Reed have a new range of designer furniture. They are now the exclusive supplier of Belgium’s Mobitec furniture in the South West. Mobitec is a the largest contract furniture supplier in Belgium, specialising in eye-catching furniture that’s designed for commercial use. The company designs and manufactures all of the furniture it supplies – from start to finish. Barton Reed are delighted to be showcasing Mobitec at the show. (Stand B32).
Folkington’s is delighted to be able to showcase its new range of mixers, including Indian tonic water, ginger ale, bitter lemon, lemonade and club soda. Made using small batch natural artisan botanicals, they come in stylish 150ml cans which are fantastic for inside and outside catering and single serves of G & Ts etc. The range also comes in beautiful fridge-packs of 8 cans for retailers to offer to their customers for use at home. (Stand D44).
Marshfield Icecream continue to win awards, with two Great Taste Awards in 2016, including Three Stars for their Vanilla Clotted Cream ice cream! They have also launched new push up lollies. (Stand C4).
Langage Farm Dairy will be bringing a brand new dairy product to the show for visitors to try, which is due to be launched in the Spring. Visit their stand to to sample one of the 14 flavours of delicious ice cream that they are bringing to the show, and to find out what the new product is! (Stand E3).
Salcombe Distilling Co. was launched in July 2016 and has already received amazing feedback from trade and consumer alike. Their ‘Start Point’ gin recently won gold at the World Drink Awards in the London Dry sub category. (Stand NC3).
