Sustainability Stars

noun: sustainability

  • the ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level.
    “the sustainability of economic growth”
  • avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.
“the pursuit of global environmental sustainability”

How seriously do we take our business responsibilities when it comes to fulfilling current needs without compromising the needs of future generations?

The principles of sustainability refer to the three core concepts of environmental, social, and economic sustainability – sometimes broken down as “people, planet, and profits“. To be considered sustainable, a business must be able to conserve natural resources, support a healthy community and workforce, and earn enough revenue to remain financially viable for the long-term.

Many sustainable businesses seek to reduce their environmental footprint by using renewable energy or by reducing waste. Companies may also be more sustainable by promoting diversity and fairness in their workforce, or enacting policies that benefit the local community.

We will be signposting you to organisations within the show that display these qualities within their business products and services. Visit their stands to find out more.

Look out for this sign as you walk around the show:

The best motto to think about is not to waste things. Don’t waste electricity; don’t waste paper; don’t waste food. Live the way you want to live but just don’t waste. Look after the natural world and the animals in it and the plants in it too. This is their planet as well as ours. Don’t waste them.”
